Community Partnerships

Good counseling is hard to find and harder to afford, and the people around you are feeling it: employees carrying stress into work, parents stretched thin, and students whose schools have lost support. We partner with local businesses and schools across Essex, Hudson, and Bergen County to put licensed counseling within their reach.

Workplace mental health partnership

Your people are carrying more than their workload. Stress, anxiety, a struggling teenager at home, a loss, a marriage under strain. Most companies offer a phone number and a handful of sessions with whoever happens to be available, and few employees ever call it.

Wellness Counseling becomes your company's mental health partner. Your employees and their family members get private, same week access to a licensed therapist at a respected local practice, paid for by you. You get a partner down the street, not a call center.

What is included

Employee and family counselingYou purchase a bank of sessions. Employees contact us directly and are seen the same week, in person in Ramsey, Hoboken, or Montclair, or by telehealth across New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, and Connecticut. Every match is backed by our Fit Guarantee.
Working parent supportParents of teens are some of the most stressed people in any workplace. Our founder wrote the book on staying connected to a teen who is pulling away, and our team works with kids, teens, and parents every day.
Trainings and workshopsOne hour sessions for managers and teams on noticing when someone is struggling, stress and burnout, and parenting while working full time.
Support after a hard eventAfter a death, an accident, a layoff, or a crisis, a therapist can be with your team in person or online within 48 hours.

Partnership levels

Essentials25 sessionsper year
A good fit for a team of about 50. Includes one team workshop and a usage report twice a year.
Partner50 sessionsper year
A good fit for a team of about 100. Includes manager training, two team workshops, and quarterly reports.
Premier75 sessionsper year
A good fit for a team of about 150. Includes everything in Partner, a working parent workshop series, and priority support after a hard event.

Every level is priced at our standard session fee, with trainings and workshops included at no charge. Any level can be sized to your team, and we share pricing in a first conversation.

Privacy comes firstThe employee is our client, not the company. We never share who used the benefit, why they came, or anything said in session. You see the total number of sessions used and nothing else.
Already have an EAP?Keep it. Your EAP covers the 24/7 phone line and the legal and financial referrals. We cover what most EAPs struggle with: a real therapist, close to home, available this week, who your employee can stay with for as long as they need.
Email us to start a conversation We will send the full overview and walk you through it in fifteen minutes.
For schools and districts
Student mental health partnership

School counselors are carrying larger caseloads with fewer places to send a student who needs ongoing therapy. Wellness Counseling partners with schools and districts to add licensed clinical support alongside your counselors, student assistance staff, and child study team. We add capacity. We do not replace the people you have.

Three ways to work with us

Refer students to usA direct referral line for your counselors and administrators, at no cost to the school. Students are seen the same week at one of our offices or by telehealth. We verify the family's out of network benefits in about a minute and submit the claims on their behalf.
Counseling at your schoolA licensed therapist works in your building on set days, with sessions that rotate across class periods and same day support for a student in distress. Available to a limited number of schools each semester.
Groups, workshops, and trainingSkills groups on anxiety, stress, grief, and peer relationships. Evening workshops for parents. Professional development that gives staff practical ways to notice and respond to a struggling student.

How it is funded

Family insuranceWhen a family's plan includes out of network benefits, we bill the plan directly with parent consent. The school is never the billed party.
District fundingClinician days or sessions funded through your budget, Title IV Part A, Title I, IDEA related services, or grants. We are glad to be the named provider on a grant application.
Community supportOur Wellness for All Fund, sponsored by local businesses, and supervised graduate clinicians extend care when budgets are tight.

Safeguards built in

  • Written parent or guardian consent before any services begin.
  • Students and families are our clients, and clinical records stay confidential under HIPAA.
  • Schools receive summary reports only. No names or details.
  • Background checks completed for every clinician before they are on campus.
  • A shared crisis protocol covering parent notification and emergency referrals.
  • Families always choose their provider. A referral to us is never required.
Email us for the partnership overview We will send the two page overview and set up a twenty minute conversation.
Why Wellness Counseling
We started in the schools

Our founder, Jennifer Politis, PhD, LPC, is a licensed school psychologist and former Director of Counseling. Our Chief Operating Officer, Kara James, MS, LPC, also began her career working in schools.

We have sat in those counseling offices, and we know what it means for a student when that support disappears. We are also parents raising our own children in these same communities. Giving back locally is personal for us, and it is why we built these programs.
